In 1969 Man first walked on the moon and a year later Nimlok was founded. Not much in common you would think? Well recently one of the Apollo astronauts, Charles Duke, was the guest of honour at the launch of Nimlok’s newest company – VU. The event was the Talk Performance seminar at Lords Cricket Ground in London where a host of speakers from sport and business talked about their achievements and passed on some crucial tips to the enthralled audience. Charles was the “Capcom ” for that famous mission and was the first voice heard replying to Neil Armstrong when he announced “The Eagle has landed “. He subsequently went to the moon on Apollo 16 and had the audience on the edge of their seats with his tails from his time at NASA.
“We were just honoured to be the prime sponsor of the event… ” announced Garry Clement-Boggis VU’s Principle “…and then we realised this was truly a significant event ” He went on to explain: “It is FORTY years since Apollo 11 made that landing and society seems to have forgotten that greatest adventure for mankind and how the world held its breath in ’69 ”
Charles Duke talked of the quality and safety issues that went hand in hand with pushing the very edge of the envelope for the moon programme. “It is amazing how valid these lessons are even in today’s world… ” commented Clement-Boggis, “…and how performance is down to people, not just technology- we hope look forward to applying what we’ve learned ”
VU: is the creative new media arm of Nimlok and provides the services around Nimlok’s delivery of exhibition and event environments. These include: e-shot, web TV, AV content, graphic design, display environments and event organisation.www.seevu.co.uk
