We have been working with local training provider, Starting Off, on their Apprenticeship programmes for the past several years. Recently at Nimlok’s prestigious showroom based on Park Farm, Wellingborough we were delighted to host one of the Starting Off Award Ceremonies.
The guest speaker was Anna Turney, a British Paralympian who had just returned from competing at the Sochi Winter Paralympics and who took 4th place in the downhill sit skiing event.
Anna told the remarkable story of how she went from being in the British snowboarding team, to being on a hospital bed in Japan having broken her back and becoming paralysed ….to gaining a place in the British Paralympic team.
A truly inspiring lady who motivated all those who attended the event.
Diane Walton, HR manager of Nimlok, commented “Not only was it truly inspiring to listen to Anna and to hear of the courage and determination she needed to achieve her goals but also to make the link with the very same qualities that are required of apprentices whilst they are undertaking their studies and striving to fully realise their potential and reach both academic and career ambitions”
“The Apprenticeship programme gives everyone the opportunity to grasp their aspirations and to achieve great things. This was clearly evidenced during the Award ceremony by the number of young people receiving nationally recognised qualifications they had gained whilst also undertaking real jobs in industry”
